Akyem Abuakwa North constituency deputy organizer of the National Democratic Congress NDC Mr Dannis Addo, has appealed to the government to restore teachers dignity to end students Indiscipline

According to him, the spate of school unrest across the country is a pointer to things that will almost become a norm in public and private schools unless radical changes are urgently effected.

The discipline of our nation has been entrusted to non existent departments in our schools ,and which has been taken up very quickly by the entrepreneur so called motivational speakers.

What teachers offered for free is now being paid for and the results are the burning of dormitories because, the conduct of students for the whole term cannot be pegged on a one day event.

The relegation of the teacher to some simple appendage in the education system has helped create a robot who is always reminded that he is paid to only teach ,and whatever else he does is not considered useless

He is niether trained nor paid to handle Indiscipline and disorder in school, because that is the work of the police. The teacher is neither trained nor paid to counsel the students because that is the work of the psychiatrist

Teacher is neither trained nor paid to nurture the youth, there are so many other roles that the teacher has been doing dutifully but he is constantly reminded that he is supposed to be teaching and making learners get some grade

Teachers are also not to cane students when they are at fault ….why?

The Deputy Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Wenchi Constituency, Gyasi Emmanuel has called on Ghanaians to disregard former President John Dramani Mahama’s statement that he has no intention to cancel the Free SHS policy of the Nana Akufo-Addo government.

John Mahama on Saturday, August 2020, during a visit to the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abukari II debunked claims that he will abolish the free Senior High School (SHS) programme being implemented by the governing NPP if he comes to power.

“Free Senior High School education has come to stay. If anybody tells you that I, John Dramani Mahama, son of E.A Mahama will abolish Free SHS when I come, tell the person he is a bloody liar. What I am against is the poor implementation of the free SHS which is creating great inconvenience for the parents, for the students and for the teachers and the point I have made is that we can make it better.”

“If this government had followed our plan of continuing with the 200 new Senior High Schools that we were building, we will not have the current situation that we have in our free SHS plan.”

But Gyasi Emmanuel in an interview with Adom-nana Piesie Yaw preko of Wenchi based Ewiase FM said Mr. Mahama’s recent comment is deceptive.

He further questioned where the former president will get the funding from for the Free SHS policy since he cancelled trainee allowances due to funding challenges during his tenure as president of the country.

“If Mr. Mahama couldn’t pay trainees’ allowances in that he had to insensitively cancel it. Where would he get over GHc2 billion to fund free SHS? Ghanaians should consider Mr. Mahama’s statement as comic relief because he (Mahama) couldn’t find few millions of cedis to reimburse three (3) consecutive terms’ Feeding Grants to keep Second Cycle Institutions in the northern part of Ghana opened.”

Prof Tina Abrefa-Gyan an aspirant at the just ended NPP parliamentary primaries for Wenchi Constituency has on behalf of other defeated candidates pledged their unflinching support for the wining candidates across the country.

She said loosing an election should not discourage you from working hard to support the winning candidates.

Speaking to the media at Berekum on Sunday she appealed to her teeming supporters and sympathisers to rally behind the wining candidate for Wenchi Prof George Gyan Baffour and all other parliamentary candidates in Ghana.

The Bono Regional Secretariat led by Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye on Sunday held a meeting to reconcile attempted aspirants and the parliamentary candidates for the various Constituencies in the region ahead of the 2020 elections.

The meeting was to foster unity among failed aspirants and the paliamentary candidates where they have signed the code of conduct and a roadmap to ensure hardwork and unity going into the elections.

Present at the meeting were the Bono regional minister Hon Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson, Municipal and District Chief Executives, Members of Parliaments, Regional party executives, Constituency Chairmen among party sympathisers.

Prof Tina Abrefa-Gyan added that, President Akufo-Addo needs more Parliamentarians in oder to pursue his agenda of transforming Ghana.

The regional executive committee REC, in consultation with other stake holders have decleared Nana Addo – Aikins Jnr. as the next Parliamentary Candidate for Abuakwa – South Constituency ahead of the 2020 General Elections.

Nana Addo – Aikins Jnr. , went unopposed during the recent Parliamentary Primaries and in-line with our Party Constitution and guidelines, he should have had a popular acclamation from our branch Executives but due to the President’s directives on Social Distancing, such Gatherings cannot be met but the Constituency has outlined some directives by segmenting the branches into zones for the Introduction of our new Parliamentary Candidate.

We therefore call on all beloved party members that Nana Addo Aikins Jnr is now our Parliamentary Candidate as we are posed to do a great work for our Great NDC Party ahead of winning this 2020 Elections and we reassure everyone that our branches are in good stand and the entire Constituency Executives will do everything possible to bring Victory come this General Elections in December.
