Asante Kotoko were inflicted a Ghana Premier League title blow as a stubborn Young Apostles outfit kept them at bay to share spoils in a thrilling stalemate at Nana Abrefa NketiaVII Sports Stadium in their Week 20 outstanding fixture, with the hosts firing another draw to make it two draws in their matches against the Ghanaian Giant.
The visitors made a bright start, dominating the ball in the early stages, with Kwame Opoku volleying over after the ball sat up for him in the first chance of the match.
But Young Apostles grew into the game and dictated the pace for its opponent with their well organised defence led by their Skipper, Joseph Quansah, and Matthias Amegbe given him the nod to win the most valuable player of the game.

Young Apostles boss Abdul Rahim Tijani sent on Razak Saprong at the die minutes of the game, and the young Ghanaian made an instant impact, threading a ball through the Kotoko defence and was knocked down for an infringement.
Young Apostles are currently occupying the 10th position in the league table with 28 points they are unbeaten in their last five successive home games (W3,D2).

The Wenchi Methodist Hospital has commemorated this year’s World Contraception Day with a passionate call for shared responsibility in family planning and an aggressive campaign against myths surrounding contraception.
The event, held at Calvery Methodist Church on September 26, was on the theme “Freedom to Plan, Power to Choose,” which emphasizes the right of every individual to make informed decisions about their reproductive health.
As part of the celebration, health officials engaged clients, students and residents on the benefits of contraception, safe family planning methods, and the need for couples to plan their families responsibly.
A Senior Nursing Officer in charge of family planning at the hospital, Madam Ellen Frimpongmaa, used the occasion to advise men to actively assist and support their wives in family planning. According to her, the burden of contraception has for too long been left to women alone, a situation she described as unfair and counterproductive.
“Men must rise and support their wives. Family planning is not a women’s affair alone. When a man assists his wife, understands the method she is using and encourages her, it brings unity and peace in the home. Freedom to plan means both husband and wife planning together,” she stressed.
She added that when couples plan their families together, they are able to provide quality education, proper healthcare and a better future for their children.

On his part, The Head of Administration at the hospital, Mr. Shadrach Anane took time to debunk common myths and misconceptions about family planning that have prevented many people, especially in rural communities, from patronizing it.
He described as false the claims that family planning causes permanent infertility, fibroid, excessive weight gain or cancer. He explained that all contraceptive methods approved by the Ghana Health Service and the World Health Organization are safe, reversible and have been scientifically tested.

“The power to choose can only be effective when we have the right information. Family planning does not make a woman barren. It does not destroy the womb. When you decide you want to give birth again, you stop, and you will conceive. The public should disregard the myths and visit the hospital for proper counselling,” Mr. Shadrach emphasized.
He encouraged the youth to abstain or use contraception to avoid unplanned pregnancies and to focus on their education and future.

Mr. Collins Boakye, an aspirant for the position of Constituency Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tain Constituency, has successfully filed his nomination forms at the Tain Constituency Office of the party.
The filing, which was done yesterday, marks a major step in his campaign to lead the youth wing of the party in the constituency.
In a statement after the filing, Mr. Boakye said his candidacy is anchored on three key pillars: to rebuild, reconnect, and mobilize the youth for a stronger and more formidable NDC in Tain.
According to him, his vision is to bring on board youth power, new energy, and a stronger organization to reposition the youth front for victory.
“We remain focused, ready to engage all delegates across the length and breadth of the Tain Constituency. For us, it is no noise, just ground works,” he stated.
He expressed gratitude to his supporters, well-wishers, and the party’s grassroots for their encouragement and assured them of an inclusive and energetic youth leadership.

The Dompemhene of Wenchi Traditional Area, Nana Owusu Yeboah Afari, has expressed profound gratitude to H.E President John Dramani Mahama for including Wenchi roads in the Big Push infrastructure agenda.
He says the move will boost economic activities and bring great relief to residents.
According to the chief, the deplorable nature of roads in Wenchi has for years affected economic activities, farming, and the daily movement of residents. He said the intervention by the Mahama government has brought huge relief to the people.
Speaking to KlassicMedia, Nana Dompemhene noted that Wenchi, which is a major farming hub in the Bono Region, needs good roads to transport farm produce and to attract investors. He described the Big Push initiative as a timely intervention that will restore Wenchi’s lost glory.
“I am very grateful to President John Dramani Mahama for listening to our cries. I’ve been thinking how the President will finance this initiative, but I trust he can complete them in his tenure. For many years, we pleaded for our roads to be fixed. Today, through the Big Push, our prayers have been answered. I say a big thank you to the President,” he stated.

The Wenchi Municipal Assembly has distributed 1,500 bags of fertilizers to registered farmers in the municipality as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity and improve food security.
MCE, PM and MoFA Director ready to distribute fertilizers to farmers
The distribution exercise, which took place at the Municipal Assembly premises, forms part of government’s Planting for Food and Jobs initiative and other support programmes aimed at empowering local farmers.
Speaking during the distribution, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wenchi, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, said the Assembly is committed to supporting farmers who are the backbone of the local economy. She noted that Wenchi is a major farming hub and access to fertilizer at the right time will help farmers increase their yields.
She cautioned beneficiaries against smuggling or reselling the fertilizers and urged them to use them for their intended purposes on their farms to achieve the aims of the President.
Some beneficiary farmers who spoke to the media expressed their gratitude to the Wenchi Municipal Assembly and the government for the support, saying the intervention came at the right time as the farming season peaks.
They appealed for more support including improved seeds, farm inputs, and access to ready markets for their produce.
The Wenchi Municipal Assembly says the municipality will continue to support them with more inputs in the coming farming seasons.

The Principal of Wenchi College of Agriculture and Applied Technology, Mr. Abdulai Mahamadu, has pleaded to the central government to employ agricultural graduates to educate farmers on current technologies to improve productivity.
Mr. Abdulai Mahamadu was speaking at the climax of the Fourth Graduation Ceremony of Wenchi College of Agriculture and Applied Technology at the School’s compus in Wenchi in the Bono Region.
“Employing agriculture graduates to educate farmers on chemical usage is a highly effective strategy to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and field application, addressing critical food safety and environmental concerns,” he said.
Mr. Abdulai Mahamadu accepted the fact that the level of the use of those chemicals is alarming, but he did not completely discouraged the use of it and advised farmers not to overdose the soil with chemicals.
The principal’s communication highlighted the significant threats that excessive chemical usage poses to both public health and the environment. “The continued reliance on chemical inputs in farming is leading to widespread environmental contamination and a decline in soil fertility, which, in turn, is contributing to serious health,” Principal noted.
He noted that most of our farmers are aged, and when the graduates are employed, they will fill in the gaps to extend to them the right use of chemicals to enhance productivity.
Mr. Abdulai Mahamadu took the opportunity to lament on some of the challenges the college is facing, saying the institution needs bus, infrastructure, and appealed to the Traditional Leadership of Wenchi to advise the natives of Wenchi from encroaching the school land.

The Assembly Member of Akrobi Electoral Area in Wenchi Municipality in Bono Region, Hon. Eric Osei, has encouraged this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in his electoral area to remain focused and confident as they write their final examinations.
He made this call during a visit to Akrobi Saint Francis J.H.S and Akrobi M/A J.H.S in Akrobi Electoral Area on 4th May, 2026, 20 and 30 candidates respectively from each school, where he donated 50 mathematics sets, 50 Pens and 50 rulers to all registered BECE candidates and also provides bus to convey the candidates to the examination centre throughout the week of the examination.
Addressing the pupils, he assured them of his unwavering support and urged them to study hard and remain determined.
Hon. Eric Osei emphasised the importance of equal access to educational materials, adding that no candidate in the Electoral Area should feel disadvantaged due to a lack of basic learning tools.
Assistant Headmaster of Akrobi M/A J.H.S, Mr. Ernest Frimpong thanked the Hon. Assembly Member for his kind gestures and appealed to him for electricity in the school.
The leadership of the candidates of both schools also expressed their gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.

The Traditional Leadership of Banda Wewa in the Banda District in Bono Region has officially commended President John Mahama for the new approach to curb illegal mining, that is Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Program (rCOMSDEP).
Introduced in 2025 as a strategic replacement for illegal mining, the program aims to formalize artisanal mining into community-owned and environmentally responsible cooperatives.
The Chief of Banda Wewa, Nana Sie Yaw Kakabako II, a meeting with the Deputy Director in charge of operations for Responsible cooperative community mining, Nana George Dadzie advised the youth of Banda Wewa to abide by the laws that govern the government’s initiative to avoid any arrest.
The leaders are now calling the youth to register for immediate implementation and rollout of the policy to provide sustainable jobs for the area’s unemployed youth.
Traditional leaders believe that the successful execution of this scheme will be a landmark achievement for the government, as it strengthens governance and ensures stricter compliance with local regulations compared to previous efforts.
Some of the youth also embrace the initiative, adding that the government should not sack the foreigners. Hence, they are contributing to the development of Banda Wewa.

The Member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Seidu Haruna, has donated 2 motorcycles to Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in honour of their request to facilitate movement in the municipality to enhance mobility, improve visibility, and strengthen fire prevention efforts.
The gesture, made on Friday, December 5, 2025, formed part of the MP’s annual donations to the security agencies in the constituency for the past four years, accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, the Municipal NADMO director Mr. Suleman Mohammed and some party executives.
At the Fire Station, Hon. Alhaji Seidu Haruna reiterated his commitment to accountability, consistency, and community-centered leadership. He assured the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) of his continuous support to enable them to carry out their duties more effectively.
“I congratulate you for the massive work you did last year because we didn’t record more fire outbreaks because of your education. You are here because of us to protect lives and properties, we are counting on you to give us more education and extend it to any part of the constituency, which is why I decided to present motorcycles this year”, Hon. said.

Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, the Municipal Chief Executive of Wenchi in the Bono Region, has advised the youth of Wenchi to avoid engaging in pre-marital sex in the course of their academic pursuit.
Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi gave the advice in an interview with the media and dislosed that in the latest statistics of AIDS cases in the region, her Municipal was ranked fourth, which does not speak well.
Honourable said youths are presently in their formative age, saying they must utilise the opportunity to develop themselves to become relevant globally.
She said the youth needed utmost dedication and determination to achieve the desired academic success envisioned by their parents and guardians.
It was also the way to save themselves from sexually-transmitted infections, including HIV-AIDS, which is on the rise in the region.
“You must be determined and focused and give your academic pursuit the needed attention devoid of any distraction, including pre-marital sex because you are the future of the country,” She said.
The CEO of Wenchiman TVET Academy in Wenchi Municipality in the Bono Region, who is also the founder of Garden City University, Mr. Albert Akwah has charged politicians to support Students under TVET with the needed items to help them achieve their goals, and people must not wait until Four years when is election year or a particular occasion before going to their aid.
He expressed his heartfelt and worry over the difficult moments that some students under TVET are going through due to lack of equipment and financial hardship.
“We will plead the government that some of the graduants need help, for instance, those who offered fashion, the government can provide machine they can start life with, politicians give away items during election anyhow, gather all those items and give them to TVET because they are the ones who can work with them because they have the knowledge,” he said.
Mr Albert Akwah, speaking at the School’s First Graduation Ceremony, said TVET education should be pursued vigorously as part of efforts to reduce youth unemployment in the country and tasked the 430 graduands to work with what they have learnt to make their lives meaningful in their societies.
“We are currently offering cosmetology and fashion. We are adding plumbing, welding, and ICT, which will help towards the development of the nation,” Mr. Akwah added.
